Make the Authentic Mediterranean Diet
Part of Your New Healthy Lifestyle

If you, or a loved one, are overweight, have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, triglycerides, or Type 2 diabetes, all health conditions that may lead to heart disease as well as many other health problems, the Authentic Mediterranean Diet is for you. Why?

Because according to statistics from the World Health Organization, Mediterraneans are healthier than Americans and have almost 50% less deaths from cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, or obesity, than Americans do.

But what is exactly the Authentic Mediterranean Diet?
The term Mediterranean Diet refers to nutritional patterns found in countries along the Mediterranean basin where life style has historically been associated with good health. Life expectancy in these countries is among the highest in the world and heart disease and other diseases related to diet among the lowest.

          Two major studies conducted in
Europe, EPIC and PREDIMED, showed that people who followed a Mediterranean diet based on fruits and vegetables, dry beans, grains, and healthy fats such as Omega-3s and Olive Oil, aged at a lower pace and lived longer. These studies have also shown that this diet can lower blood pressure and cholesterol.

          A study conducted in
Greece to investigate the survival rate among people with heart disease who followed the Mediterranean diet showed that based on a scale of 1 to 10 units, the people who adhered to the Mediterranean diet even by just 2 units, had a 31 percent lower mortality rates from heart attacks than people who didn’t adhere. Studies have also shown that the combined effect of the Mediterranean diet, being physically active, moderate alcohol use, and nonsmoking is associated with a 50 percent lower risk of all-cause mortality.
